I was pondering the rare beautiful and powerful moments when I was in a group of people that were all on the same page. No one yearning to be right or to shine brighter than another. Just beautiful unity in Christ. We were all about His purposes. Our eyes were on Christ and His desires as we began to pray. It wasn’t always loud, though volume didn’t really matter. It was the authintic heart that mattered. firmly confidant in the One we were addressing .
It was in these rare moments….I knew whatever was brought before God would be yes and Amen. It always seemed to happen quickly, the answers to the prayer requests.
I’ve also been in meetings where I knew that someone would disagree in spirit….just to be contrary, or out of jealousy or envy or just wanted to be seen as “right”. And in those moments I’ve felt the Holy Spirit grieve and I knew that unity was broken and He was displeased.
The Holy Spirit is tender and sensitive. He is pictured like a dove when He alighted on Jesus at His baptism. Why is He this way? I don’t know. But He is who He is. Third person of the Trinity. It is interesting to note that Jesus says Luke 12:10 “And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven.” It seems they are protective of the Holy Spirit. He is Tender, He is Comforter, He is Teacher. We desperately need Him to be victorious in this life.
I’m not trying to make a theological point. Just that we as His body should be conscious of Him and walk humbly before Him and honor one another for the purposes of unity in the Words and Ways of Christ.
Some of the most powerful prayers prayed are with just one other person that is in complete agreement….with knowledge and understanding of God’s ways.
I long for the day when God Himself weeds out the tares from among us that…..well, tear us apart.
Humility and Unity. I pray that it be the next move of God.
