In Due Time Cities Will Be Judged

CITIES WILL BE JUDGED

We rarely think about cities being judged, but the Word tells us they will be.

This morning I was listening to a preacher talk about how he was glad that Kansas City won the 2020 Super Bowl. instead of the 49ers.  ‘San Francisco is a wicked city’  he said.  I agree.  Kansas City has 24/7 prayer and praise groups and has for years now.  Whether you like the theology or not that is an awesome accomplishment.  San Francisco is known for it’s sin and now it’s filth and drugs on the streets even though we know there are some good and Godly people there too. But do we ever stop to think what God thinks of the cities?

As I was reading this passage from Luke 10,  it said as a headline – “Woe to The Impenitent City”   then describes Jesus own words about some cities in His day.    Check out His words….

Luke 10:13-16   “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.  But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you.  And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades.  He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”

Impenitent simply means  – without remorse or shame for their sins.

I’ve never heard a sermon on this.  Just something in the Word to think about.  Generations will also be judged for their deeds.   Luke 11:50   (those who have chosen to reject Christ and the forgiveness He offers.)
