Sackcloth and Ashes

February 21, 2014

America, America

How we need to sit

In sack cloth and ashes

Uncovering our sin

Sins of us all

From great to small

It matters to God

How our country did fall

Whether by silence

Or outright by sin

We’re in this together

Repentance can mend

Have we forgotten

What our forefathers bore

The wounds and the scars

So freedom could soar

And where are the churches

Calling it sin

Demanding an account

For deeds done within

Lawlessness reigns

Because we’ve sat back

Refusing to engage

Be on the attack
